We are excited to welcome Nigel Batley to Akinn Group

We are pleased to announce that Nigel Batley has joined Akinn Group as Chairman of our Structured Finance practice.

Nigel is the founder and owner of NIB Advisors, a firm providing specialist advice on structured finance transactions. He brings a wealth of experience following his retirement from HSBC in the summer of 2021, where he had an impressive 33-year career spanning relationship management, risk, and — from 1999 onward — structured finance.

Nigel initially joined HSBC’s fledgling asset-backed commercial paper (CP) conduit business, becoming EMEA Head of Structured Finance in 2004 and later Global Head in 2007. Under his leadership, the structured finance business grew to manage up to $45 billion in assets, providing financing solutions to corporates, financial institutions, and financial sponsor-backed investments.

At its peak, the team comprised nearly 100 professionals across HSBC’s three main regions and was responsible for structuring a wide range of publicly distributed products — including Metrix, HSBC’s own ‘synthetic’ CLO programme.

We are thrilled to have Nigel’s expertise and leadership guiding our continued growth in structured finance.
